Heather entered the trade mark profession in 1998 and joined Fry Heath Spence in 2017 from another specialist firm of patent and trade mark attorneys. Heather is a Registered Trade Mark Attorney. She handles trade marks, designs, copyright and domain names in the UK, EU and worldwide.

Heather specialises in all aspects of UK and international trade mark law and practice including clearance searching, prosecution, oppositions, revocation, invalidity and infringement matters. She has experience of ex parte and inter partes hearings before the UK Intellectual Property Office as well as appeals before the Appointed Person and the High Court. She also has experience advising on domain name disputes and other domain name matters as well as counterfeiting and customs issues. She regularly assists clients with the management of their trade mark and domain name portfolios around the world.

Heather has more than 20 years’ experience of drafting and negotiating commercial contracts, dispute resolution and mediation work and she enjoys the challenge of finding commercial solutions to her clients’ trade mark disputes, often settling co-existence agreements in the context of opposition proceedings.

Heather assists the firm’s clients in a variety of sectors which include household names in the food, fashion and drinks sectors as well as SMEs in the pharmaceuticals, retail, automotive and sporting goods sectors.
